First Year Growth and Development

One Month

Emily weighs   8 lbs. 5 oz.   and is   19 inches   tall.

Emily is growing very fast.  She loves to watch your mouth when you talk.   Emily smiled for the first time at 2.5 weeks old.  She is starting to coo.

Emily and Mommy are spending most of the time in the recliner trying to catch a few good winks.  Emily is breastfeeding and Mommy is extremely tired.   Mommy calls Emily her "Little Diva", because she needs to have things exactly so and she loves to be held and doesn't really like to be laid down to rest.

Two Months

Emily weighs   11 lbs 13 oz.   and is   20.5 inches   tall.

Emily is starting to notice things around her.  She lifts her head for longer periods of time and watches objects/people moving.  Emily knows when you are there.   She is talking with lots of coos and even had a belly laugh!

Three Months

Emily weighs   12 lbs 6 oz   and is   21 inches   tall.

Emily is so much fun now.   She likes to lay down and play with her little gym.  She grabs the fish on her travel swing and likes to play with her links in her car seat.

Emily is sleeping for longer stretches now.  Last night she even slept from 11pm to 6:45am with a quick feed at midnight.  We finally put her crib up so she may be sleeping in her crib by the beginning of April.

Emily has been sick once and may be getting sick again.   (Andrew is in daycare and is sharing a lot of the sicknesses).   Emily loves to watch Andrew.  She has a beautiful smile and has an adorable laugh.   Emily even likes to give a cute "shy" grin when she is looking at you.  Emily loves to have conversations with the grandfather clock.  It's extremely funny to watch.

Emily  is very interested in trying to sit and stand.  I think she's afraid of missing anything.  She watches everything around her.

Six Months

Emily weighs   18 lbs 6 oz   and is   ?? inches   tall.

"Wow! Six months. It hard to believe that it's going so fast. Emily is now sitting up all by herself. She has made a great turn around in her sleeping too. She is now sleeping through the night from about 10pm to about 7:30am. She loves to eat!! She is eating 8oz of formula at breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late night. During mealtimes she is also eating cereal and some pureed babyfood.

Emily has a wonderful demeanor. She smiles lots and lots. Emily thinks Andrew is the funniest thing, too. He doesn't have to do much to get her laughing. Emily gets comments from people everywhere we go.

Eight Months

Emily weighs   20 lbss   and is   ?? inches   tall.

Emily is very observant of the world around her. She notices so many things. Emily loves to be outside...when it's not unbearably hot!! Emily loves the water. She's gone in the small pool that we have here, and even got to go in a big pool with Grandma. She loves taking baths and splashes as much as she can.

Emily is pulling herself up to the standing position at the coffee table. She loves to stand and look around. I think she's very proud of herself when she accomplishes feats like this. She will stand and then look for approval from someone.

Emily is eating cheerios, fruit puffs, wagon wheels, and breads. She only has two bottom teeth, but she knows how to mash food with those gums. She really just wants to be just like everyone else.
